There was a W123 5 cylinder 300 Diesel/turbo diesel up to and including
1985. Later, there was a W124 6 cylinder 300 Turbodiesel, with aluminum
head that would crack resulting in mucho $$$$$$ being spent. (BTDT)

The rest of the Diesel line up included the W123 4 cylinder 240D, and
the German taxi's 4 cylinder 220D and 4 cylinder 200 Diesel. Earlier
Diesels were the W115 4 cylinder 220D and early 240D, with perhaps the
smoothest ride on secondary roads.

Then there was the three main bearing W110-10-10, 190Dc Diesel. Close
to 45MPG on Diesel fuel and an Oil motor that could be heard a block
away in cold weather. Later production was the five main bearing 200D
also in a Fin-back sedan.

Although they would run forever, provided the motor oil and filter were
religiously changed, rust killed most of them.

I miss those Diesel's.
