It's hard to list, there are a bunch if intake
manifold's out there which helps in custom plumbing.
Javad's IM is cool, but I'm going to try and see if I
can get the same results with my stock 4kq manifold,
and bolted on dorF V8 TB.

Most of the stuff you just kinda grab along the way.
There are people who offer headers for ~$1200 out
there, Javad's may be less.

Most of the fab is in the form of wiring, little
brackets, turbo piping, and mounting a large
intercooler.  Access to a MIG welder is almost a must,
and a tig welder would be great.  That and your usuall
garge tools.

I run mine off a win59 pentium 166 laptop.  If you sit
down and read the instructions, and tinker with all
the settings, you'll quickly get a feel for it.  I
personally have found it beneficial to lurk on the
megasquirt list because there is a ton of info that
flows through there about this stuff.  To do it right
you need a dyno.  Since we don't own 4 wheel dyno's a
WBO2 meter helps alot, and an EGT gauge.  I'm still
trying to invest in a WBO2, which is sad because they
are quite reasonable these days.  Less than $400.

Bad question to ask:)  I assume you want a 13 second
car right away right?  This is for a 5ktq..

$600-800 for a new turbo
$1200 for a header ($600 if you build it yourself)
$500-$1500 Implementing EFI, depending on system and
if you want ign control.
$400+ for a good intercooler and piping
$500-$1000 for a high flow exhaust
$?  For random trips to the tool store and hardware
store.

Now, if you go Mike Gough style, cut those prices in
half or even a third, but you better be ready to
bargin:)

If you had all the parts sitting in front of you,
well, a couple of weeks?   Unfortunatly that doesn't
usually work.  Do EFI get it running.  You'll be so
giddy about the results, all the other stuff will not
matter at the time.

Next take another weekend and put the intercooler in.
Try and make up the piping, order fittings over the
week, and finish it the next weekend.

Soon, you'll want more.  Get the header and turbo in.
Another weekend and a day at the exhaust shop.  Maybe
another weekend Cleaning up the IC piping again

In reality, you'll be tinkering in between all these
projects so it's hard to put a timeline on it.  I
personally like the tinkering.  Cleaning things up,
making nice wiring harnesses, piping, etc.

I have only had my car strand me twice since I started
this.  One because I was in a hurry and didn't tighten
the timing belt properly which made it jump on me.  No
damage thank god.  Second because my alternator belt
broke, and that didn't reallt strand me.  It just kept
me from getting to my destination, and resulted in a
nice long conversation with Hank at Hank's Happy Truck
Stop on why I shouldn't own an Audi.  Both of these
had nothing to do with the conversion.  Now I have had
to pull over and re-tighten intercooler hoses after
they blow off, re-connect that one electrical
connection, stuff like that.  Sometimes you just
forget to do little things like that.  If you take
your time and think things through, there is no reason
these conversions are not reliable.  You also need to
do quality wiring and you'll be fine.

Let's get started!

Oh yea, have you checked out Eric F.'s MAX Q?  He has
a pretty nice EFI conversion.
