89 200tq 10v noisy clutch bearing?

How do you know this has anything at all to do with the clutch? Does the
noise change when you depress the clutch pedal?
There are a number of things that can make unpleasant noises at idle, but
you wont hear them while driving, like a rattling/noisy dizzy, water pump,
bad alternator bearings, etc. However any one of those would likely change
pitch with engine revs (as would a noisy throwout bearing). Are you
perhaps hearing a noisy fuel pump? Where is the noise coming from?
