Please do Not use ATF fluid. There are two very good products for this
problem. "Marvel Mystery Oil" and "Rislone". Buy a pint of MMO and add it to
your oil. Run it until your next oil change. You may need to use it often,
as I did on my Mitsubishi Sport, I couldn't convince the dealer that it had
a bad lifter.IF your engine has lots of miles on it, then do NOT use the
Rislone, it will do a real good job of cleaning the whole engine. If the
engine has many miles and lot of stuff sealing the rings, then Rislone will
remove the stuff and then you will burn oil.
Rislone come in a concentrate that can be added to your oil at any time or
by the quart, using it instead of a quart of oil.
Marvel can be used anytime.
