Where are electronics located

Finally out of the house and on to my first year of college. I am sorting out
all the little problems on my 87 4ksq for the trip out there. I will need
cruise control because it is a 3 and a half day trip at a medium pace. Where
is the control unit located I have already replaced the pump thing. I have a
parts car so a new control stalk is no prob. Also i would like to get the
drivers side seat heater working I have changed the switch is there a relay in
the dash some where or is the heater core just probably toast. . . .
