has anyone here ever read the article on fram filters by a fram employee?
he goes on about how there is NO - ZERO quality control, how a quarter of t=
he ones coming off
the line are defective
looking for the link but cant seem to find it...
im sure i printed it off so the bookmark should be on the bottom of that pa=
ge...

the mopar filter review bashed fram for various reasons in a review where h=
e was out to
try not to bash anyone. his big complaint was the use of cardboard.

udy.html

This filter cartridge has a small outside diameter with a rather low filter=
element surface area (193 sqin), and features cardboard end caps that are =
glued in place. The rubber anti-drainback valve seals the rough metal backp=
late to the cardboard end cap and easily leaks, causing dirty oil to drain =
back into the pan. If you have a noisy valve train at startup, this filter =
is likely the cause. The bypass valves are plastic and are sometimes not mo=
lded correctly, which allows them to leak. The backplate has smaller and fe=
wer oil inlet holes, which may restrict flow.

another review:

states:
The poor sealing of the plastic bypass would likely result in some continua=
l bypass, and after only a few minutes of playing with the valve I was able=
to get it to stick open. This bypass design would appear to be very poor. =
My primary concern with this filter are the cardboard end caps- I would be =
suspicious that the cardboard would deteriorate over time and may come loos=
e, especially considering that the cardboard is in the way (partially) of t=
he oil flow. I would be particularly concerned about this in a racing envir=
onment where higher pressures are common.

he praised mobil, bosch and amsoil to name a few

>I was torn when Fram replied to my query that their filters indeed include

need anymore convincing?
