I think that case you're talking about is the entire oil pump. Probably
fairly expensive to fix. No leak ever gets better, only worse. I also
can't believe the case was cracked prior to them "pounding the seal into
place". Shouldn't be any pounding required. I'd tell them you're taking
the car elsewhere for evaluation/repair and you expect them to pay the bill.
