Oil leak after timing belt/crank seal job...

The other place to check for leaks after doing a timing belt and water pump job are the bolts holding the rear timing belt cover on.  If those bolts are not tightened properly, or have loosened up, they will leak oil, as several of them tap into the oil pump, or oil passages.
In any case, I'd take it back to the mechanic.  Job isn't done yet.
