Oil leak after timing belt/crank seal job...

Dave,
The seal is a part of the oil pump. Best to remove the pump to
replace, but can be done in situ while r/r timing belt.
The seal would not have started leaking all of a sudden anyway - these
seals are designed to force oil back in with engine rotation. I doubt
it is the seal.
I would raise a stink if they saw a cracked oil pump housing and did
not inform you at the time. Then you could have made the choice to
replace the pump or not(of course you would have replaced the pump) -
You know where to get these cheap - I have 3 or 4 laying around, so
cost is not a problem. It would have only taken another hour of labor
to replace the pump.
Hopefully they just did not tighten or even left out a bolt. One I
know I've forgotton on occasion that basically goes right through - the
bolt seals the hole.

I called them and they are going to take another look at it. According
tot he various responses I've gotten here it could be leaking from many
parts:
1The crank seal seal, improper intallation.
2Timing Belt cover bolts (holds on the oil pump to the block?), need to
be properly torqued to prevent oil leaks.
3Alternator bracket bolts, need to be properly torqued to prevent oil l=
eaks.
4Idler Pulley bolt, need to be properly torqued to prevent oil leaks.
5 Cracked crank seal carier or cracked oil pump housing. Can anybody con
firm whether the crank seal is installed directly into the oil pump or
whether there is a "seal carrier" that could be the problem?]
