Audi idle problem

I replaced the crankcase breather hose about 2 years ago with the newer
metal tube. I did notice oil in this hose where it enters the bottom of the
intake boot. Is the multi-port tube your referring to the one on the
passenger side of the engine that connects to the ISV and the intake
manifold? I have two small metal pipes coming out from front side of the
throttle body. These ports, are not covered and have considerable vacuum.
Do you know what these are for?

Steve, on your car (and mine) the classis idle problem is caused by a leak
either in the multi-port hose near the back end of the cam cover on top of
the
engine, OR the crankcase breather hose going vertically down the driver's
side
of the engine. If memory serves, it connects to a short metal pipe, but the
hose usually crystallizes and fails on the side toward the engine down near
the
crankcase. It's easy to find with some hand massage, as the hose often
feels
like warm silly putty when it goes bad. If you haven't replaced that
breather
hose in the last 3+ years, it's my #1 candidate.

Why? BTDT, o'course.
