Brady and all,

Just checked my own 83 urQ: noise (...pffft...) coming from cylinder 4 and
5. Oil seepage around these holes.

Source: might be a loose spark plug. Will check.

Conclusion: yes, it was the spark plugs, 3 of them were slightly loose.
Just replaced them all a coupla months ago. Used a torque wrench to tighten
them and cleaned the seating surface before installing the new plugs.

How come they loosen?

Should I torque them with my 4-foot torque tube?
Or...
Should I follow the "Jerry Pitt's proven torque technique"?
(For those who were not reading Hot Rod magazine (or Car Craft, I don't
remember well...) around 1990, it goes like this:

Jerry Pitt was the first man to break the 5 second barrier on the quarter
mile. When asked: "how come your engines are not blowing heads like all the
others", he replied: "I have my own little secrets". Then somebody asked:
"Tell us more, please".
Jerry, a clever man, replied: "Just follow my proven torque technique:
tighten 'til it strips, then back off half a turn".

He, he, he...

Louis-Alain,
83 urQ, still smiling from the last UPG week-end
Can't wait for the Canadian event!

	-----Message d'origine-----

Potentially evil oil weeping from head gasket area on my 83 urq. BAD
THING.

No oil or coolant consumption, and both are clean. GOOD THINGS.

	Cheers,
	Brady Moffatt
