Hahahahah... I have to join in, as an experienced fuel jockey in a
former life.

"Side of the road" stations, or any farily busy "full service" stations,
simply require that the hose reach to the ther side of the car.  End of
story. You may, on occasion, have to ask someone to "pull forward a bit."

So, on cars where the fuel filler in under the license plate (very
common on 70's-80's Detroit iron - yes, it was a long time ago), if the
fuel gauge in the center of the cluster?
