It is "relatively" trivial, yes. The E3 harnesses come out of the car
pretty much independent of everything else and complete. You just rip
out the old harness and put in the new one, like I did when swapping CIS
to CIS-E in my coupe, connecting it to all the things it runs or reads,
and about 4 or 5 wires. I think you may want to change to the MFS on
the coolant neck, but not certain of that (if you run AC maybe).
Note that the 80/90 style harness is a mess, it runs all over the
interior on its way to the engine compartment, you may want to trim the
wires to lengths that let it lay out neatly in the 4kq. The 87.5 coupe
harness is already "suited" to a type 85 installation, if you can
scrounge one up.

It is a much bigger pain, for some silly reason. it took Marc & I
hours, many hours, simply to sort out what was actually MC harness and
what wasn't from the pile that came out in one monstrous spaghetti mess
from his donor 5kt. But once that is done, it is, again, plug and play.
