how to install a (seat) harness? & coilover report

Hi folks!
I had my first outing in 2 years at Pacific Raceways, formerly SIR, on
Sunday. What a great day! Plenty of track time! If any of you ever have
the chance to do a lapping event in the Seattle area, pick one of our Alfa
club days; they are far more relaxing than the local P-club & Bimmer
events, and you'll be out there with a huge variety of cars (we even had
an Enzo Ferrari at our April event) so it is very stimulating. The track
itself is now about 2.3 miles long and still has 300' elevation change --
and still a geographical challenge for my oldy moldy 80Q with pretty much
original everything. I wanted to report that the Eibach coilover/Koni
yellows I'd purchased from 2Bennett were a great improvement!!! As an
aside, I opted for a 340/315 combination, but when I'd initally called
them to purchase the springs, Ken had recommended closer to a 400 rate.
In hindsight, I could really have gone with a stiffer spring; I still
felt like I was on a smooth, relaxing Sunday drive -- not at all harsh in
my opinion. Best part was the handling. A friend of mine who has a 944
turbo told me he'd been shocked I'd gained on him in the chicane after
he'd passed me on the back straight. In addition my tire wear, or lack of
it, was impressive: practically even, front to back, on new A032R (H)
tires. The tire guys are going to be very disappointed not having my
business every 2 months like they used to ... &:-) A question, though: I
received 2 instruments with my springs/shocks. I kind of arched brass
screwdriver, and a cap with a screw in it. How do I use these to make
adjustments? Is this what is meant by "double-adjustable" or
"single-adjustable"?
Driving the car again made me realize I need better control than I can
get from sliding around in my seat. I know that putting in a Sparco seat
would be tricky because they won't bolt onto the rails -- you'd have to
cut apart an OEM seat and somehow affix another seat to that base. So
maybe seat isn't the way to go. But I do have an Autopower harness that I
bought some time ago for another car (which is nowhere near being ready
to drive), so it's just hanging around doing nothing. Is there any way I
can install this in my sedan? I have full interior and don't want to
destroy it -- this is my daily driver, and I drive friends and dogs
around in the back seat. I've seen people take their harness mounts all
the way to the back seat, but is that wise? Does it stretch the harness?
911s have a harness bar you can install at the B-pillar. Is there
anything like this for Audis? Any other suggestions? Again, this is my
'88 80 Quattro.
Thanks!
