OK, Your car has the 2.6, which was not sold in the US on any model
of Audi.  All the V6s from that vintage here were the 2.8 model,
which has better torque and power (172hp, 184lb-ft).  Hence I think your
gripe has some validity comparing it to the old 2.2 or 2.3 on the
lighter old coupe.

As far as I know, the B4 series cars are still all steel, no aluminum
in its body structure or panels.  Was your old coupe a quattro?
If not, then you are also experiencing the effect of the increased weight
of all the awd components in your current 80q.

You said that your car does 0-60 in about 8 or 9 secs.  That's about
par with what the old coupe did...
