You need the entire water pump which comes with the seal.  You can
certainly replace just the seal, but the cost of the pump is trivial
compared to the time it takes.

You will essentially be doing a timing belt job as that is all part and
parcel to removing the pump.

I don't know a way around this, which is why you should plan on rolling
this into a timing belt job.

I just went through doing a complete timing belt job because I thought
I needed a water pump - sound like you are in the same boat.
