Really? Cool!
One thing I forgot to mention, and I think this is really important for Ed. If
I had to do it all over again, and my friends didn't own any roof racks...I'd
go with Yakima.
The round bars aren't an issue if the roof is curved. Occasionally the square
bars annoy me because they don't sit level. The front is rolled a little
forward, the rear is rolled a little back. It's only ever rarely an issue..but
something to think about if you're buying new.
We also found another advantage to the round bars. On my 4kq, we can fit 5
bikes on the car. Three on the roof, traditional style, and one bar mounted to
the trunk lid. The other two bikes sit on an angle following the rear window
line. Looks ridiculous, but you only need one car for 5 guys! Can't do that
with square bars.
If I had to rate everything:
I like the round Yakima bars better then Thule
I like the Yakima bike mounts better then thule's.
I like the thule towers better then Yakima's
I like the Thule fit-kits better then Yakima's.
Heh Heh, I'll bet that doesn't help much!!
