Ahhh, but this should be not an issue. You are supposed to only use 80% of the volume of r-134a to compensate.
As a side note, mine works fairly well after a conversion. My compressor is weak, as shown by my gauge set, but even so, I get vent temps in the mid 40's after a few minutes.
That said, when mine ceases to work, or when I do a turbo swap, I'll likely swap my york out for a sanden. I'm not at all impressed by the york's lack of smoothness, and the huge power sap that it is. It does cool the car though, so I can't complain too much.
The york compressor is still used in r-134 applications on certain large trucks(freightliners), which says to me, that in a properly designed system, the york can work with 134a.
