I don't have a 4K but I think the principle is the same on all clutches.
It sounds like your clutch release bearing is going or gone. Every time
you press on the clutch pedal the slave cylinder, as in the 5K, or the
clutch cable and push rod, in the case of clutch release like my Jetta,
pushes on a bearing against the clutch release fingers. This bearing
wears out and may be seized and squealing, or dry and complaining ;-)
Either way, separate the transmission and motor, check clutch wear and
replace if necessary, replace guide bearing and release bearing.
