Hi Fay;

You don't say what bit size you need, but most sizes are available as
"jobber's bits" which are 6" to 8" long. You can also get "bell wire bits"
which are 18" long and come in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" sizes - they have a hole
drilled in the tip and were originally used for running bell wire through
floors and existing framing.

A pin chuck comes with a collet set and is used for small drill bits (hence
the "pin"). Because it uses collets, it is small in diameter compared to a
gear chuck. I have two pin chucks - one is "finger driven" and the other is
designed to chuck in a power drill. I use the "finger-driven" one for number
drills in the 60 - 80 range; the drills are too delicate to trust to a power
drill. The largest collet with both chuck sets could probably take a 1/8"
drill, the smallest chuck will take a human hair.

Hi !

Would anyone know where to get a drill which would allow me a longish
extention (say a maximum of 3 - 3.5 inches with aoubt 1/2 - 3/8" clearance
on the side for that 3 inches) on the chuck or a small area rotation -- my
husband refere to it as a pin chuck.

I need to get into a small space, but I cannot have the bit wobbling around
as it is precise work. Thanks.
