Bushing in the crank removal

I was able to get the one out of my auto MC crank with the grease trick,
messy, but fun ;) Didn't think that trick would ever work, till I saw it
with my own eyes. I do remember really having to give it a good whack to
create enough pressure to get things going. Then as the grease oozed out
around my not so perfect fitting rod, I'd have to stop and refill the
cavity.

I'm trying to remember if that bushing extends out of the crank any
distance. Enough say to get a really rugged pair of vice grips on it, and
be able to twist some as you pull (or even use a slide hammer on the vise
grips). Perhaps that'd be enough to persuade some movement. Again, if I
remember correctly the bushing is a softer metal than the crank, so I
don't think you really need to worry about buggering the pilot bearing
fit, unless you get really creative....
