Rokas asks...
"Hey everyone. Just ordered a set of Bilstein shocks/struts. Is the
replacement procedure about the same as for my old 86 5kcst? In other words,
can the fronts be replaced without taking the strut assembly out? Are any
special tools needed for this procedure for the C4's? Thanks,"

Rokas,
I recently installed Bilsteins in an 87 5ktq and can offer a couple of tips
... but can't say for certain whether this car differs fron the C4.
1. The strut housing must be clear of fluid ... antifreeze, oil, etc.
Conventional struts are often installed with antifreeze filling the space
in the housing, but I understand the Bilsteins will be ruined if you do this.
2. Re: special tools ... the collar on the Bilsteins is unique and they
come with a special tool to tighten it.
HTH,
Dave C.
