Check the 60 amp fusible link in the fat wire to the fan motor - it's
nothing more than a strip of aluminum, and I'll bet it is blown . . .
Little black plastic case on the wheel arch just to the rear of the fan
motor, fat wire in, fat wire out, two screw connectors for the fusible link
inside, visible after you unsnap the cover.
They can corrode and then blow, or the fan motor could be tired and taking
too much power to start.
Do not jumper it (other than to test the fan motor) - if there is a problem
wiht the fan, you'll melt a major portion of the wiring harness and on the
87s and 88s, repairs may easily exceed the value of the car.
If you have a type 44 which does NOT have the fusible link, installing one
is a REAL good idea. Cheapest $15 insurance policy you can buy.
