a brief update... thanks first to those who aided me in my search for an
appropriately grown-up head unit for my 90Q.  The winner was a Nakamichi
CD 400, which is so sedate as to appear almost dated.  Nice.

I've been working on and off between downpours on installing all this
Nak., Sony, and HUMAN clutter in the car, while also swapping the entire
interior over to a black leather set I acquired (thanks, Chris!).

Tonight I realized that all the speakers were in, the amp was wired
(though not mounted), and all I had to do was hook up four random wires
and the thing could be tested.

Ooh, it worked first time!  Sounds pretty good, too, although there is
no carpet, front seats, or dashboard yet, and I had to relax and listen
in the back seat.  Smiles.
