944 / V8 diff in CGT?

Hello...

I'm exploring options for a limited slip in the ITB CGT's transmission.
Others (including my friend, the PO of the car) have run welded diffs and I
know that there are Quaife units and possibly "Phantom_grip" kits available
but it seems that I heard of another option...

I'm not entirely certain, but I thought that I had read on this list about
the possibility of using either a Porsche 924 / 944 limited slip or another
Audi's differential (rear tors_n unit from a V8?) in a Coupe GT
transmission.  Didn't some of the 924/944 turbo's have an Audi based trans?
I believe it I tried searching the archives, but can't seem to find what I'm
looking for.  Can anyone clarify?  Has anyone swapped parts around and tried
something like this?
