Stiff Clutch and Overcenter Spring

Could the stiff clutch in our S-cars be due to broken overcenter spring?

If this spring is broken, the clutch pedal stiffens up considerably, as was
the case in my CQ. Replacing this spring in my CQ fixed the stiff clutch in
that car considerably.

Has anyone replaced this spring in their S-car with lesssening of the clutch
resistance?
