staying well away from the usual torsen wind from chicago ;-0, and further to
some off-line correspondence on the vwag dsg gearbox.
1) it was developed initially by audi for the s1 quattro, and used by walter
rohrl
2) its current application is for vwag transverse engines only with "no official
word" on an application for a longitudinal engine installation.
3) perusal of the specifications of the new bugatti reveals, surprise, a dsg
gearbox in a longitudinal installation, albeit one able to handle the 922 lb
ft of torque of that machine. i would imagine that a dsg for sporty audi models
wont be far away, although not for the s4 at launch.
4) the motoring press is going nuts over the new box citing its shift speed,
smoothness and flexibility.
