Coke into motor oil for Lifter noise.

I recently tried the Marvel Mystery Oil trick in my '86 Coupe GT, which had noisy lifters. It didn't help. I tried that after swapping the crappy oil filter for a Bosch brand, which obviously didn't help either.

What finally did it was putting in some newer lifters from my last Coupe GT, which I had replaced before I wrecked it and saved the motor.

While doing the lifters, I put in a Blau 272 cam. It flattened out the huge midrange torque lump that it had, but added some power at higher rpms and seems to let the engine breathe better. All in all, it is the same change that I had when I put in a Schrick 272 in the other motor.

The exhaust tone sounds cooler too, like you can hear the valves closing through the exhaust or something. More personality, as a friend said regarding version 1. The car is more fun to drive with the cam in it, especially after finally advancing the timing to 10btdc or so, I don't recall exactly how much.

Doing the lifters isn't too difficult. Just be meticulous, and don't put any cam caps on in the wrong place or orientation. Follow the Bentley.
