Remove the filler (upper) plug--located just aft of the driver's-side
drive shaft--and insert a finger (of your choice). The proper fill
level is within a few millimeters of the filler opening, but it's
common to fill  right up to the max.  A level that's more than 1/2"
or so below the opening is good evidence of a leaking oil seal.
