Well, if you can get a helper, take an old towel, and hold it over the exhaust pipe outlet. Any leaks will become more evident then, as you'll be able to hear the pressure escaping.

By the way, what brand of exhaust system do you have on the car, and how old?

I've got a bosal system on my 4kq that's been an absolute disaster. The rear muffler section rusted completely out at 18 months, and now the center is falling apart. Anyhow, the reason I mention it, is that the center muffler appears to be coming apart inside, so it sounds horrible. Louder than my car has ever been. Sounds like I have a horrendous exhaust leak. Kind of like I'm dragging a lawn mower too.

That was a $500+ lesson in life. Stupid bosal.
I'm going stainless this time.
