I don't know what is different between the NG and the NF-2,
but my guess is that there are some detail differences due
to their applications -- NGs are used only on the smaller chassis
cars (type 89 and 87.5 CGT) whereas the NF is for the type 44.
Perhaps the basic long blocks are indeed the same. If you
have a copy of the family album, have a close look at both and
compare part numbers, etc. might yield some answers.
