Exactly why I have two batteries in my Audis.
That's the true sign of an experienced Audi owner :)

When the brushes on my coupe's VR were worn down it did the same
thing.
 I replaced the brushes with some hardware store ones (had to sand
them
down a bit...) because the VR was still in nice condition.
Had to drive home at below 2k rpm to avoid a dead battery... yuck...

mph on the interstate.
