My question is: What are people doing for insurance? I've been
able to find multiple car discounts (5-10%), but it seems that a
household with 2 drivers and 6 vehicles should be able to find a cheaper
solution for insurance on all the cars.

Hi Dan - We have a similiar situation (2 drivers but three drivable cars
- 96 Geo Tracker, 86 Jaguar XJ-S Coupe, and 86 Chevy Astro Van, the other
two cars - 83 Audi 5000 Turbo and 46 Dodge truck - have been off the road
for rebuilding). While shopping around on the Internet, the best quote I
received was around $2,135.00 for one year. This was for full coverage on
the Geo, and liability only on the Jag and van. The level was at the
100-300-100, with 500 deductable. A local agent (who we have been using
for the last eight years) has us placed with the Westfield Group (out of
Ohio) for $1,340.00 for one year (this is better than the price he had for
us, over the last three years, with the Progressive Ins Co.). My wife is
45, and I am 56. All three vehicles have regular seat belts (not the
motion kind) with shoulder harness, and only the Geo has dual airbags (the
Jag and van do not have airbags). None of the vehicles have ABS. The
Westfield Group apparently handles quite a few states here in the
northeast. Maybe you can find a similiar company, that handles surrounding
states, as well as yours, that may give a better pricing. Let the private
insurance agents do the work for you (of researching the rates), by you
calling them for some quotes. I was used to paying a lot better rate, back
home in Texas, as compared to the rates up here in the northeast, but I
learned that the rates are higher in this section of the country. Hope
this helps you.
