5-cyl, 20V vs 6-cyl in an Audi 90.

I beg to differ on that point.
I've got a '93 90S (fwd) with the 12v V6 and it has great performance.
Granted, not as good as say the 1.8T with a chip, but it definitely
moves out when needed.
Although, it probably also helps that I have a manual transmission, I've
heard the automatic equipped cars are dogs.
I'd be willing to bet that my V6 would smoke a I5 90 series (at least if
a turbo motor wasn't transplanted).
I drove an '88 90Q and was thoroughly unimpressed with the acceleration
and the interior room.
Don't forget, '93 started the new body style. There is a LOT more
interior room and trunk room.
