Part Interchange

Since I recently acquired the *money pit* of the audi family (87 5KTQ),
I'm looking to get a parts car. Locally there's a 5KTS that's of the
84-85 vintage (dual headlights each side). The VIN is:WAUHC0442EN179916
and it was built in 7/84. I'm pretty sure it's an 84 model.
I'm wondering about part interchange. Since it's not a quattro (and it's
an auto) I know those parts (or lack thereof) won't help. But how about
front suspension, brakes, body panels. I'm planning to build a go-go
engine for my car. It will probably be common rail EFI. Is that engine
just as good a base as the 10v in my 87, or were there improvements made
between the years?
And on another note, do fenders from the 100/200 (with the small flares)
fit the 5000? If not, how are people getting the flares on the 5K's?
Thanks in advance for any information--
