Chris,
I would have to agree with Ti.
I have 5K turbo and the end cap blew off the intercooler.  Thus no air
flow through the metering plate.
Not much experience yet, but still working on it

An air leak does sound to be a likely culprit.  All that engine
vibration
and heat, and a marginal hose of rubber piece may have sprung a crack.
In your case, it sounds like the air leak is fairly substantial to cause
the engine to stall, so I would start by inspecting the big rubber boot
that goes from the fuel metering plate to the throttle body, including
its underside, connections to each side as well as to all the hoses
and lines that attach to it.  Then, check all the hoses and lines that
are
attached to the intake manifold.
