Well, you've heard it now. ;-) It's a rather common design, usually
rear only. There are no auxiliary brake shoes in the disk hat as with
some designs, the emergency brake cable attaches directly to the caliper
and operates it mechanically. The pistons turn out as the pads wear.
Very common for these to seize up when the car sits out in the weather
for extended periods. Has happened to me more times than I'd like to
remember.
