I doubt it.  It probably has to do more with failing bypass valves-
Bosch just doesn't seem to be able to make a bloody bypass valve that
actually lasts, which is inexcusable considering how much they cost.
Check yours periodically with a hand vacuum pump- they should hold a
perfect vacuum on the control port.

Synthetic has a higher coke temperature point.
