I finally got them in this weekend and man what a
difference. I had to raise the rev limiter to 7k
because the damn car just keeps building power and I
was hitting my previouse 6500 rpms limit to soon!
The motor is now stable above 5500 rpms. and really
pulls nice in 1st and second gear. Before it was like
I had bad fueling or ignition, it was really
inconsistant from valve float. I'm posting this to
let everyone know you really do need the HD springs,
at least in a turbo car. I say that because there is
something a lot of people overlook. They forget there
is boost pushing down on the intake valve. A 40 mm
intake valve has two square inches of area (minus the
stem). At 20 PSi that's 40 lbs of pressure the
springs have to deal with in addition to the idiot in
the cab racing the WRX down the street:)
I still have the 3500-4000 stumble and can't for the
life of me figure it out. It seems to only happen
right around there at 17+ psi. I've tried different
WG springs, reference line locations, BPV's. Who
knows, I'll stumble on it some day.
Later,
=====
