There are two types of switches on the 80/90: 'early' cars up until 1989
model year (here in Europe) had the square style column switches. For 1989,
Audi introduced the more rounded type with the momentary wipe position when
you push down on the wiper lever.
Both aren't easily interchangable: you need to change the connectors (wires
don't match up also) and the steering column shroud is also different
between models. Also, there's a different connector for the horn ring.
So going from 'square' to 'rounded' isn't that easy. Can be done though,
someone had done it on my old '87 80. I have spares for both switch types
lying around, can provide a digipic to compare connector shapes.
