Weird reaction when the car is floored.

I further agree. On my TVR Griffith (5 litre V8), I used to have a dodgey
suspension joint on the rear such that I could actually accelerate hard,
overtake a car and then decelerate once passed and pull back into my lane
without actually turning the steering wheel at all. Accelerating made it
drift to the left and engine braking made it drift back to the right. This
added to that I used to have a normally aspirated 100 quattro and it never
drifted sideways makes me think it's definitely a suspension problem.
Cheers, Mike.

I've never driven one but I'd have to strongly disagree with the torque
steer comment. A type 44 quattro non-turbo can't possibly have enough
power to cause torque steer with a healthy suspension/alignment. My
chipped '89 200q doesn't show the slightest bit of torque steer even at
full boil (1.8 bar).
I definitely agree with the worn suspension angle however. That and a
crowned or rough/uneven surfaced road could definitely cause wandering or
drifting.
