5kTQw vibration under load

Hi Robert,

Well, I don't know of any adjustment for the axle alignment, and while it is possible to balance them I don't think it is needed unless some kind of serious work is being done.

Aside from the normal balancing of the wheels themselves, or perhaps something like a warped rotor, I still think that a load and speed-dependent vibration would make me think of the driveshaft carrier bearing.

Ever since I did the clutch on my '88 5kcstq, I have had a slight vibration. I haven't messed with it since them, altho' if I end up driving that car very much I know I'll start thinking about it more and trying to fix it.

I wouldn't try to adjust the carrier bearing unless you have ruled other stuff out, since I've found it difficult to get it exactly right again. Perhaps you could either have the tires balanced or rotate the tires to see if the vibration moves around.

Beyond that, based on what I interpret your descriptions to be like, I personally would be looking at the driveshaft carrier bearing. Maybe wait for some more opinions before messing with it, in case it's fine? :-)

Good luck,

Ken
