Elliott - Yes, the shrouds are essential.  I'd recommend the cq side shroud
because it's a much more durable (plastic vs. cardboard), but it's more
expensive (like $50?). I think I trimmed a little off the bottom, but the
rest fits perfect.

I've noticed the rad fan likes to run often on my 20vt and sometimes comes
on while driving if I'm on boost for long periods.  A significant factor in
my case is that I have the IC in front of the rad.  The 3 rally 4ktq's I saw
a few weeks ago all had thick-cored rads to help dump heat.  I'm still using
a stock rad.

One other thing I'm considering is some tastefully cut vents in the hood
behind the radiator to help the hot air flow out of the engine compartment
once it's passed through the radiator.
