Consumers Prefer Diesels Over Hybrids.

Oh, and by the way....
VW WILL offer the 5.0 liter W10 diesel in the Toureg in the USA for
model year 2004 (next summer), at least according to a 4wd magazine I
read recently. The really amazing part is that this 4wd magazine was the
"American Iron" type of magazine, and the editors sounded pretty
enthused about the prospect of a diesel VW SUV.
