Here's the latest problem on my (ex) V8. Originally it started out with
a timing belt replacement which turned into a broken reference pin on
the flywheel and finally after they replaced it, it cannot be put in
gear. You guys were right about the broken pin in the first place, and I
am hoping you can advise on this as well.

I know this is not my problem, but I am trying to help the new owner
troubleshoot. Unfortunately he took the car to a shop where they do not
know the car, and it became quite a nightmare. This is what he says:

"The guys at the shop slightly separated my tranny from the engine to
retrieve a reference pin they broke while improperly replacing the
timing belt. They tell me they didn't separate the torque converter. Now
the engine runs, just wont go into any gear, (in either S E M modes).
They pulled the codes and checked the wiring. Short of taking the tranny
out and shipping it off, I'm beside myself. They say it must be the
pump. It worked fine when I took it in 4 weeks ago! Any thoughts other
than spending KKK$$$$ shipping the trans away? I have this horrible
feeling of impending doom.
Thanks."

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
  Zsolt
