Yes, the tool presses the bearing out and in.
Yes, the job is done on the car. Some disassembly is
required to separate the bearing housing/strut from
the axle.
Attached is a copy of the Schley tool instruction
sheet showing how it's done. Last time I did this, I
took detailed photos of every step; just haven't
gotten the photos developed yet (2 years and
counting). Planned on (still do) putting together a
detailed how-to as the Schley intructions are a little
cryptic.
Regarding the BFH, considering the amount of force
needed to drive out the bearing out and in (needed a
honkin' big breaker bar to turn the Schley tool, seems
dangerous (to the parts and yourself) even with steps
taken to protect the housing and the bearing itself.
Altho it seems you have done this previously! The
wonders of driveway engineering!
