Audi Newbie ?? RE A4

Hi all,

I don't want to sound like too much of an idiot, but where the heck is the air filter housing on a 98 A4 1.8TQ?  I am not a novice mechanic, but just got my A4 and want to install a K&N and can't find a place to put it (no flames please).

Also, where can I get service/shop manuals for this car, I have tried the Audi site but all I can find is the CDROM version, that is a little impractical for my workshop.

Is there a list archive or FAQ that I can search instead of asking idiotic questions like the two above?

BTW, I have an open Carfax until 3/9/01 if anyone needs any VINs run.
