Well, I can say that almost anything in a FWD 4000 should pretty much drop in ... I would imagine that even the drivetrain of the 4000 5+5 could be made to fit ... :-)

My car has a 5-speed from an '86 4kS in it.  There is a bit of a difference in mounting, as the 4000 went to a subframe, but with a little bit of machining you can make pieces to fit.  I was thinking about bolting a worked over VW 2 liter engine into mine ... but I just got caught up in keeping the newer cars running I suppose.
