Turbo Project Problems

It won't really make any boost if there isn't any load on the engine. The rpm just shoots up way too fast to have the throttle open long enough to make boost. If you are really currious and have a lift or just jackstands, put it into gear, floor it but use the brakes to keep the rpm from redlining, you will make boost.
Can't help you on the oil pressure......
The smoke burning off is probably just crud. Mine burned off oil for about an hour just idling because the exhaust manifold was so covered in oil.
