Yes, that's fairly common.

It could be a broken wire in the bundle of wires that goes in to the trunk lid
to power the lights, as well.  When those break and short there are
intermittant results.  I think the mirror is only supposed to look down if that
mirror is selected with the button you use to adjust it.

1 qt/2k miles isn't so bad; if the car consumes less than 1qt/1k miles an Audi
dealer won't even look at it.
